Acyclovir tablets are used in adults for:
Herpes labialis (cold sores)
Herpes infections of lips, nose (fever blisters), skin, and genital areas
Also used for prevention of recurrent herpes infections in individuals with low resistance and who have contact with herpes-infected patients
Allergy to acyclovir or any component of the tablet
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
For treatment of herpes-related cold sores, skin, and genital herpes:
200 mg 5 times a day (every 4 hours while awake) for 5 days
Over 2 years old: same dose as adults
Under 2 years old: 100 mg 5 times a day
