It is used for severe types of acne, such as nodular or conglobate acne, or in cases where there is a risk of permanent scarring.

You will be prescribed Aknetrent if your condition has not improved with other acne treatments, including antibiotics and skin therapies.
You are pregnant or breastfeeding
You think you might be pregnant
You are planning to become pregnant
There is any possibility that you could become pregnant – strict precautions must be followed
You are allergic (hypersensitive) to soy or any of the excipients in Aknetrent
(This medication contains soy oil and isotretinoin, so it should not be used in patients with a soy allergy.)
You have liver disease
You have very high levels of fats in your blood (e.g., high cholesterol or triglycerides)
You have an excessively high level of vitamin A in your body (hypervitaminosis A)
It should not be used in children under 12 years of age. In children over 12, it is only used if puberty has already started.
The usual starting dose is 0.5 mg per day per kg of body weight (0.5 mg/kg/day).
For example, if you weigh 70 kg, your treatment will begin with a dose of 35 mg per day.
Treatment usually lasts between 16 and 24 weeks.
For most patients, one treatment course is sufficient.
Your condition may continue to improve for up to 8 weeks after treatment ends.
Do not start a new course during this time.
Keep out of reach of children and store in the original packaging.
Store below 25°C, protected from light and moisture.
Return any unused capsules to your pharmacist.
Use within the expiration date stated on the package.
Do not use Aknetrent after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
