Sildenafil
Treatment for erectile dysfunction
Treatment of erectile dysfunction, defined as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual activity.
Sexual stimulation is required for the specific action of sildenafil.
The drug is not indicated for use in women.
Tablets are taken orally.
In adults: The recommended dose is 50 mg, taken as needed approximately one hour before sexual activity.
Based on efficacy and tolerability, the dose may be increased to 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg.
The maximum recommended dose is 100 mg, with a maximum frequency of once daily.
When taken with food, the onset of sildenafil’s action may be delayed compared to fasting administration.
Due to effects on the NO/cGMP pathway, sildenafil enhances the hypotensive effects of nitrates; therefore, it is contraindicated to use with nitric oxide donors (e.g., amyl nitrite and nitrates) simultaneously.
Sildenafil should not be used in patients for whom sexual activity is contraindicated (e.g., severe cardiovascular disease, unstable angina, or severe heart failure).
Contraindicated in severe liver or kidney impairment, hypotension (blood pressure <90/50 mmHg), recent stroke or myocardial infarction, and congenital degenerative diseases of the cornea.
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the medication.
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, protected from moisture and out of reach of children.
