Ketorolac
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic properties.
Tablets:
Each tablet contains 10 mg of ketorolac tromethamine (pack of 20).
Each ampoule (1 ml) contains 30 mg of ketorolac tromethamine (pack of 5).
Short-term relief of moderate to severe pain requiring analgesia comparable to that achieved with opioids.
Toradol is not indicated for the treatment of chronic pain syndromes.
In adults, the total duration of multiple i/m or i/v Toradol injections should not exceed 5 days, as prolonged use increases the risk of side effects.
The duration of i/v infusion in adults should not exceed 24 hours.
In children, the total duration of parenteral use should not exceed 2 days.
Oral administration in adults should be for no longer than 7 days.
Designed for single or multiple intramuscular or intravenous administration in adults.
In children, may be given as a single intramuscular dose, with additional i/v injections if necessary (preferably i/v due to injection pain).
Adults (under 65 years):
i/m: 10–60 mg single dose depending on pain intensity.
i/v: 10–30 mg single dose.
Adults over 65 years or with renal impairment:
i/m: 10–30 mg single dose.
i/v: 10–15 mg single dose.
For adults: 10 mg once or every 4–6 hours as needed.
Maximum daily dose: 40 mg.
Tablets are not recommended for children due to insufficient clinical data.
The lowest effective dose should always be used.
The drug may be combined with low-dose opioids if required.
IV administration should last at least 15 seconds.
IM injection should be deep and slow.
Analgesic effect begins in ~30 minutes, peaks in 1–2 hours, and lasts 4–6 hours.
Before use, hypovolemia should be corrected; only use in patients with normal hydration and electrolyte balance.
Hypersensitivity reactions (including bronchospasm or anaphylaxis) may occur; appropriate emergency measures must be available.
Use in children under 2 years is not recommended due to limited experience.
