It is used to treat symptoms caused by allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, nasal discharge and itching, itchy eyes, redness and tearing, and itching of the palate.
Each 1 ml contains 0.5 mg of desloratadine as the active ingredient.
Excipients: sucrose, propylene glycol, sorbitol (70%), sodium benzoate, sodium citrate dihydrate, anhydrous citric acid, disodium edetate, Sunset Yellow FCF dye, tutti-frutti flavor, deionized water.
Alcetine is used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis, such as:
sneezing,
nasal discharge and itching,
itchy, red, and watery eyes,
itchy palate.
It is also used to relieve symptoms of urticaria (hives), including:
itching and
rash.
The medication provides 24-hour symptom relief without interfering with daily activities or sleep.
Alcetine is indicated for children from 6 months to 11 years of age, adolescents (from 12 years), and adults, including the elderly.
Children 6 to 11 months: 2 ml once daily (using the 2 ml measuring spoon).
Children 1 to 5 years: 2.5 ml once daily (using the 2.5 ml measuring spoon).
Children 6 to 11 years: 5 ml once daily (using the 5 ml measuring spoon).
Adolescents (12 years and older) and adults: 10 ml once daily (using the 5 ml measuring spoon twice).
The doctor will determine the type of allergic rhinitis (intermittent or persistent) and the duration of treatment.
For urticaria, treatment duration may vary depending on the patient and must follow the physician’s guidance.
Administration:
Alcetine is intended for oral use and should be taken with a little water. It may be taken with or without food.
Alcetine can be used from 6 months of age.
The effectiveness and safety in the elderly have not been established.
There is no available data on use in hepatic impairment.
Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment.
Common: fatigue, dry mouth, headache
Allergic reactions: difficulty breathing, wheezing, itching, urticaria, rash
Rare: hallucinations, seizures, hyperactivity, palpitations, tachycardia, abnormal liver function tests, hepatitis, dizziness, insomnia, drowsiness, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle pain, bloating, restlessness, physical and mental hyperactivity
Hypersensitivity to desloratadine, loratadine, or any of the excipients, particularly the Sunset Yellow FCF dye.
No known interactions with other medications.
Patients should inform their doctor about any medications they are taking, have recently taken, or plan to take.
Use with caution in patients with impaired renal function.
Can be taken before or after food.
Contains sucrose and sorbitol – patients with known sugar intolerance should consult a doctor before use.
Contains Sunset Yellow FCF, which may cause allergic reactions.
Each dose contains less than 1 mmol of sodium, so no sodium-related side effects are expected.
Contains 100 mg/ml of propylene glycol – side effects from propylene glycol are not expected.
Missed Dose:
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
Discontinuation:
No adverse effects have been reported upon discontinuation of the medication.
Alcetine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult a doctor before use.
