Adablix is used to relieve symptoms of hay fever (sneezing, itching, runny or blocked nose, and red, watery eyes) and other forms of allergic rhinitis. It can also be used to treat skin rashes accompanied by itching (urticaria or hives).
What is Adablix and what it is used for
Adablix contains the active substance bilastine, which is an antihistamine.

What you need to know before taking Adablix
Do not take Adablix:
if you are allergic to bilastine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Warnings and precautions:
Before taking Adablix, talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have moderate or severe kidney problems and are taking other medications
Children:
Do not give this medicine to children under 12 years of age.
Do not exceed the recommended dose. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
Other medicines and Adablix:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines, including over-the-counter medicines. Consult your doctor especially if you are taking any of the following:
Ketoconazole (antifungal)
Erythromycin (antibiotic)
Diltiazem (for chest pain or angina)
Ciclosporin (to suppress the immune system to prevent transplant rejection or treat autoimmune and allergic conditions, e.g., psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, rheumatoid arthritis)
Ritonavir (for HIV treatment)
Rifampicin (antibiotic)
Adablix with food, drink, and alcohol:
Do not take these tablets with food, grapefruit juice, or other fruit juices, as this may reduce the effect of bilastine. To avoid this:
Take the tablet and wait one hour before eating or drinking fruit juice, or
If you have eaten or had fruit juice, wait two hours before taking the tablet.
Bilastine at the recommended dose (20 mg) does not increase drowsiness caused by alcohol.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility:
There is limited or no data on the use of bilastine during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or its effect on fertility.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Before taking this medicine, seek advice from your doctor.
Driving and using machines:
Bilastine has been shown not to affect the ability to drive in adults. However, individual reactions may vary. Therefore, check how this medicine affects you before driving or operating machinery.
How to take Adablix:
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Recommended dose: Adults, including the elderly, and adolescents aged 12 years and older: 1 tablet (20 mg bilastine) per day.
The tablet is for oral use.
Take the tablet one hour before or two hours after food or fruit juice
Swallow the tablet with a glass of water.
The duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor based on the type of condition you have.
Use in children:
Do not give this medicine to children under 12 years.
Do not exceed the recommended dose. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
Other pharmaceutical forms of this medicine may be more suitable for children aged 6–11 years.
Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years weighing less than 20 kg, as there is insufficient data.
If you take more Adablix than you should:
If you or someone else has taken an overdose, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately, or go to the nearest hospital emergency department. Take the packaging or this leaflet with you.
If you forget to take Adablix:
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
Take the missed dose as soon as possible and then continue with your usual dosing schedule.
If you stop taking Adablix:
Generally, no side effects are observed after stopping treatment with Adablix.

Dry or uncomfortable nose
Abdominal pain

Gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining)
Vertigo (sensation of spinning)
Weakness
Thirst
Dyspnea (difficulty breathing)
Dry mouth
Digestive disorders
Itching
Herpes lesions (oral herpes)
Fever
Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
Difficulty sleeping
Blood tests showing kidney function changes
Increased blood lipids
Frequency unknown:
Palpitations (feeling of heartbeat)
Tachycardia (fast heartbeat)
Allergic reactions: symptoms may include difficulty breathing, dizziness, collapse or fainting, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, and/or swelling and redness of the skin. If any of these serious side effects occur, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.

How to store Adablix:
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not use: Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the box and blister after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.
Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures help protect the environment.
