It is used to prevent the formation of blood clots in patients with an irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) and at least one additional risk factor.
Apixaban 5 mg.
Excipients:
Tablet core: lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulfate, magnesium stearate (vegetable).
Tablet coating: lactose monohydrate, hypromellose 2910 (15 mPa·s), titanium dioxide (E171), triacetin, red iron oxide (E172).
To prevent the formation of blood clots in patients with irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) and at least one additional risk factor. A blood clot may travel from the heart through the bloodstream to the brain (causing a stroke) or to another organ, blocking normal blood flow (this condition is also called systemic embolism). Stroke can be life-threatening and requires urgent medical attention.
To treat blood clots in the blood vessels of the legs (deep vein thrombosis) or lungs (pulmonary embolism), or to prevent recurrence of blood clots.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before taking this medicine.
The effect of apixaban on pregnancy and the fetus is not known. If you are pregnant, you should not take apixaban. Contact your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while taking Elixaban.
It is not known whether apixaban passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before taking this medicine during breastfeeding. You may be advised to stop breastfeeding or to stop or not start treatment with Elixaban.
Apixaban has shown no negative effect on the ability to drive or use machines.
Always take this medicine exactly as recommended by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts about using this medicine, consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.
Method of administration:
Swallow the tablets with water. Elixaban can be taken with or without food.
To ensure optimal treatment effect, take the tablets every day at the same time.
If you have difficulty swallowing the tablet whole, consult your doctor about alternative methods of taking Elixaban. The tablets may be crushed and mixed with water, 5% dextrose solution, apple juice, or applesauce immediately before taking.
This medicine does not require special storage conditions.
