It is used for edema, edema associated with kidney disease, fluid accumulation in tissues, and high blood pressure.
Each film-coated tablet contains 40 mg of furosemide.
Other ingredients: Lactose monohydrate, maize starch, magnesium stearate, crospovidone, microcrystalline cellulose, macrogol 6000, powdered cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica, sodium croscarmellose.
Edema (fluid retention in tissues) associated with heart failure or liver disease
Edema related to kidney disease (In cases of nephrotic syndrome [protein loss, lipid abnormalities, fluid accumulation], treatment of the underlying condition is essential)
Tissue fluid accumulation (e.g., edema associated with burns)
High blood pressure (arterial hypertension)
This medication should always be taken exactly as prescribed by a doctor or pharmacist. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure about anything.
Dosage:
The dosage is determined individually, particularly based on the patient’s response to therapy. To achieve the desired effect, the minimum effective dose should always be used.
Recommended dosage:
Edema associated with heart failure or liver disease:
The usual starting dose for adults is 1 tablet of Furo-Denk 40 (equivalent to 40 mg of furosemide) as a single dose.
If the diuretic effect is unsatisfactory, the single dose may be increased to 2 tablets (80 mg) after 6 hours.
If still inadequate, 4 additional tablets (160 mg) may be administered after another 6 hours.
In exceptional cases, initial doses above 200 mg may be used under close clinical supervision.
The usual maintenance dose is 1–2 tablets per day (40–80 mg).
Weight loss due to diuresis should not exceed 1 kg per day.
Edema related to kidney disease:
The usual starting dose for adults is 1 tablet of Furo-Denk 40 in the morning (40 mg) as a single dose.
If the diuretic effect is insufficient, the dose can be increased to 2 tablets (80 mg) after 6 hours.
If necessary, 4 additional tablets (160 mg) can be given after another 6 hours.
In special cases, more than 200 mg of furosemide as an initial dose may be used under careful clinical monitoring.
The usual maintenance dose is 1–2 tablets per day (40–80 mg).
Weight loss due to increased urine output should not exceed 1 kg per day.
In nephrotic syndrome, dosing should be carefully selected due to the increased risk of side effects.
Edema associated with burns:
The daily and/or single dose may vary from 1 to 2.5 tablets (40–100 mg of furosemide).
In exceptional cases, such as renal dysfunction, up to 6 tablets (240 mg) of Furo-Denk 40 may be used.
Intravascular fluid deficiency should be corrected before starting treatment with furosemide.
Intravascular hypovolemia must be corrected before use.
High blood pressure (arterial hypertension):
The usual daily dose is 1 tablet of Furo-Denk 40 (40 mg furosemide), either as monotherapy or in combination with other agents.
Use in children:
The usual daily dose of furosemide in pediatric patients is 1 (up to 2) mg/kg body weight, but should not exceed a maximum of 40 mg/day.
Method of administration:
Tablets are taken on an empty stomach, swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of liquid (e.g., one glass of water).
The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor, depending on the type and severity of the condition.
If the patient is pregnant, breastfeeding, suspects pregnancy, or plans to become pregnant, a doctor or pharmacist must be consulted before using this medication.
Pregnancy:
Furo-Denk 40 should not be used during pregnancy unless deemed absolutely necessary by a doctor, as furosemide crosses the placenta.
Lactation:
Furosemide is excreted in breast milk and suppresses lactation.
Use of Furo-Denk 40 is not recommended during breastfeeding. If treatment is necessary, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
Even when used correctly, this medication may impair reaction time to an extent that driving or operating machinery, or working without secure footing, may be affected.
This is particularly relevant during the initial treatment period, dose increases, switching medications, or when combined with alcohol.
