It is used to treat adult patients with type 2 diabetes.
Each tablet contains the active substances vildagliptin and metformin hydrochloride.
Aliqual Duo is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adult patients. This type of diabetes is also known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM). It is prescribed when blood sugar levels cannot be adequately controlled through diet and exercise alone.
Aliqual Duo helps regulate blood sugar levels. Your doctor may prescribe vildagliptin/metformin alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medications if they are not effective enough on their own.
Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body does not produce enough insulin or when the insulin produced does not work effectively. It may also develop when the body produces too much glucagon.
Insulin and glucagon are hormones produced in the pancreas. Insulin lowers blood sugar, especially after meals, while glucagon triggers the liver to produce glucose, increasing blood sugar levels.
