Vilmetfor 50 mg + 850 mg tablet is a medicinal product used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
Each film-coated tablet contains:
Active ingredients: 50 mg of vildagliptin and 850 mg of metformin hydrochloride.
Excipients: Hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC-LF), hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC-EXF), magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, yellow iron oxide, talc, polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol.
Vilmetfor is a medicinal product used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It helps control blood sugar levels.
It is prescribed alongside diet and exercise as a first-line treatment in patients previously treated with both vildagliptin and metformin hydrochloride, or in those inadequately controlled on metformin hydrochloride or vildagliptin alone, or in patients not adequately controlled by diet and physical exercise alone.
Vilmetfor is also indicated in combination with a sulfonylurea (SU) alongside diet and exercise in patients whose diabetes is not adequately controlled with metformin and a sulfonylurea.
It may also be prescribed with insulin, along with diet and exercise, to improve glycemic control in cases where a stable dose of insulin and metformin does not sufficiently control blood glucose levels.
Type 2 diabetes develops when the body cannot produce enough insulin or when the insulin produced does not function properly. It may also occur when the body produces too much glucagon.
Insulin is a substance that helps reduce blood sugar levels, especially after meals. Glucagon is a substance that triggers the liver to produce sugar, raising blood sugar levels. Both substances are produced by the pancreas.
Vilmetfor works by helping the pancreas produce more insulin and less glucagon (effect of vildagliptin), and by improving the body's ability to utilize the insulin it produces (effect of metformin hydrochloride).
This combination helps in effectively controlling blood sugar levels.
It is important to continue following your recommended diet and/or exercise program while being treated with Vilmetfor.
Your doctor will determine the exact dosage of Vilmetfor suitable for you.
The usual dose is one or two tablets per day. You should not exceed two tablets per day.
Depending on your treatment response, your doctor may increase or decrease the dose. Continue following any dietary advice given by your doctor. If you are on a diabetic weight-control diet, continue it while taking Vilmetfor.
Do not forget to take your medicine as prescribed.
Vilmetfor is for oral use only.
It is recommended to take the tablets during or immediately after a meal—one in the morning and one in the evening. Taking the tablet after a meal helps reduce the risk of gastrointestinal upset.
Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush, or split the tablets.
Keep Vilmetfor out of the reach of children and in its original packaging.
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
