Lamotrigine Aurobindo is used to treat two conditions:
Epilepsy
Bipolar disorder
In epilepsy, Lamotrigine Aurobindo works by blocking signals in the brain that trigger epileptic seizures.
In adults and children over 13 years, it can be used alone or with other medications to treat epilepsy.
It can also be used in combination with other treatments for Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
In children aged 2 to 12 years, it is used in combination with other treatments, or on its own to treat a type of epilepsy called typical absence seizures.
In bipolar disorder, Lamotrigine Aurobindo is used in adults aged 18 and older to prevent episodes of depression that occur in bipolar disorder (also called manic-depressive illness). It helps stabilize mood swings, although the exact mechanism is not fully understood.
