Augmentin is an antibiotic used to treat infections and works by killing the bacteria that cause them.
Each 5 ml contains:
Active substances:
Potassium clavulanate equivalent to 57 mg of clavulanic acid activity (derived from bovine milk-based raw materials)
Excipients:
Xanthan gum, aspartame, succinic acid, Aerosil 200, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, orange essence (1281, 1282), golden syrup essence (1283), silicon dioxide.
Augmentin is an antibiotic used to treat infections caused by bacteria. It contains two active ingredients:
Amoxicillin (a penicillin antibiotic) – kills bacteria.
Clavulanic acid – prevents bacterial resistance by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes.
Augmentin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms in the following cases:
Upper respiratory tract infections: recurrent tonsillitis, bacterial sinusitis, acute otitis media
Lower respiratory tract infections: acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, pneumonia
Genitourinary tract infections: urinary tract infections, urethritis, kidney infections, female genital tract infections, gonorrhea
Skin and soft tissue infections: cellulitis, animal bites
Dental infections: tooth abscess
Bone and joint infections: such as osteomyelitis
Before taking this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if:
You are pregnant or breastfeeding
You think you may be pregnant
You are planning to have a baby
Like other antibiotics, Augmentin can affect gut flora and potentially reduce the absorption of oral contraceptives. Additional contraceptive measures are advised during treatment. If you become pregnant while taking this medicine, contact your doctor immediately.
Augmentin may cause side effects that can affect your ability to drive or use machines. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel unwell while taking this medicine.
Always administer this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults and children weighing 40 kg or more:This suspension is generally not recommended for adults or children over 40 kg. Consult your healthcare provider.
Children weighing less than 40 kg:
The dose is calculated based on body weight (kg). Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage for your child. A dosing spoon may be provided.
Standard dose: 25 mg/3.6 mg to 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg body weight per day, divided into two doses.
High dose: Up to 70 mg/10 mg per kg body weight per day, divided into two doses.
Keep out of reach of children.
Store dry powder at room temperature below 25°C.
After reconstitution, store the suspension in the refrigerator at 2–8°C.
Use the 100 ml suspension within 10 days.
Do not freeze the suspension.
Keep in the original container.
